Came across this great slow mover from oft-overlooked 90's band Space Needle. Heavy bassline, melancholy and a strange but lovely high section. This seems to be from the Seattle grunge era, but the song's heart-on-sleeve earnestness and a killer bass lick give it staying power. It's like R.E.M and Lou Reed on a Sunday morning. I love it.
Manchester's HURTS wear their hearts on their pristine suit sleeves. I see some Eurythmics, The Killers and Sinead O'Conner in the mix. A stirring rock anthem if there still is such a thing. I imagine this will get insanely popular. First great tune of 2010.
