Battlehymn For Children - Tensnake DUB remix

Stumbled onto this burner of a remix from Tensnake. Gliding shards of synth layer themselves over hollow plunks, while The Faint's vocals get screwed and chopped amidst live sounding drums and inflates with a slick buildup before skimming away like a neon dream. Have had this on repeat all evening, (along with the Mike Snow - Peter Bjorn and John tune, which I'll post tomorrow).

No One Sleeps While I'm Awake - The Sounds

High voltage power-pop from The Sounds. An entire full-length of pop at this intensity is overkill, but there are some good gems to be mined from the whole LP.
MakerooM likes this one..

Bibio - Jealous Of Roses

Bibio's new Warp released Ambivalence Avenue is a blend of lost in time folked out beats and croons. From acoustic guitar strums, reminiscent of Boards of Canada, to scuffed J Dilla era hip-hop, Bibio's album is a good listen all the way through. Stand outs include, the featured Jealous of Roses, with it's A Family Affair sandbox shuffle, and Bibio's falsetto shadow boxing a nasty funk lick. As well as the sweet menace of Sugarette , with it's Flying Lotus headknock and the Jay Dee apeing Fireant.(*see the video below)

Animal Collective Phaseone

This tune got named in my best of list a couple of weeks ago. But it deserves some more shine. Phaseone crafts a bass-heavy rainmaker beat that meshes so very nicely with AC's joyous barrage of voices. I think the breakdown contains an Outkast sample and the stick on wood beat clicks in the latter half are so awesome. This Phaseone guys deserves some more attention. And lucky for you he is giving his Mad Weight mixtape away here.

Free Energy

Recent DFA signees Free Energy bring a sugary bombast to lead single Dream City. If those Na Na Na Na's don't get you, then you don't like rock n' roll. This song calls for beer in a can.

Love The Nite Away

This is summer heat, coolers, speakers outside. This is breeze on skin. This is nothin' to do all today or tomorrow. This is girls in summer. This is Love The Night Away. Swedish duo TieDye (IDIB) stretch DJ Kaos's pleasant groove into a beautiful summer anthem. Immediately catchy & classy, balearic disco drums and fluttering swirls of colourful sparks provide enough love to last until we put the nite away.

Anyone else hear this in the melody...?

Miami

Here is the latest in an inadvertent series of summer jams. Guess this stifling Japanese summer is permeating into my soul. This track is a collage with almost an overdose of sounds. Funk-lite guitar strums, some Beach Boys harmonies, 80's synths stabs, babies laughter and finally some whoopin' and hollering about Miami. From MakerooM faves The Tough Alliance's 2007 LP,The New Chance.

Beirut Disco

Beirut Disco is freaky summer jam from Gameplay. Warm organ loops and strange echo-chamber dub horns, tangle and flow with overheard radio frequencies from another place and time. All under a blanket of hypnotic house beats. Don't pass this over, let it unravel, it's totally worth it. (via HMWL)

Family Portraits Mega Secrets

What's this? A song on this blog with actual guitars, and no synths. Yes, and to be honest I don't know where I came across this tune, but it rocks. All fuzzy guitars and sunny throwback vibes. A quick check tells me this is from a label sampler (Underwater Peoples Compilation) and the band is Family Portraits.

Pony Pony Run Run + Mondkopf

Pony Pony Run Run's squeaky clean Hey You get chased through the alley on this build-up banger. Very cool. Checked the original and wasn't impressed, but the MondKopf touch makes this remix a must.
